After a busy travel week, I'm actually home for the weekend with no plans. Bliss.
The weekend started with Happy Hour at Antonio's. Haven't been there in awhile so it was good to be back. Got a chance to catch up with a few people and get an icey headache from drinking my frozen margarita too fast.
Then I went to the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" last night. I was worried with all the hype on the movie, I wouldn't enjoy it, but I did, and then some. It was more of a thriller than the Batman movies. Heath Ledger's Joker was excellent and horrifying at the same time, from his lines to his every motion. Bale (Batman) and Eckhart (Dent) were good, and Maggie Gyllenhaal was so much better as Rachel Dawes than Katie Holmes in the last movie. l liked the character development, and the continued action. There were lots of little kids in the theater, but his was definitely not a kids movie.
I've done a fantastic imitation of a vegetable today, lounging around reading and working on crosswords. Fabulous.
Later I met Lauren for dinner. We picked a place north of downtown neither of had ever been, called Blue Star Cafeteria. Very cute place with a retro atmosphere. I had the Roased Corn Bisque with Chicken and Farfalle Pasta, it was delicious and I would definitely order it again. Then Lauren said she was in for desert (chocolate cake), so I couldn't let her do it alone, and I got the Key Lime Pie. They were very good. I would definitely go back.
Now I'm home and back to vegetable status. Life is good.
