This has been a tough week. I'm dying to run to make sure I am ready for the AT&T Half Marathon, which is now only a week away. But with my lower back acting up, I've been advised from my doctor, my physical therapist, and my chiropractor not to run until race day. So I'm hoping that when race day comes, I'll be okay. I have PT and Chiro appointments almost every day this week in hopes I can fix myself by then.
Even though I'm stressed about the race, I'm very excited because Sally, one of my best friends on earth, will fly in on Wednesday night! Sally was there for me when I finished my first marathon. On her bike, she she met me every few miles, giving me snacks, encouragement and the most amazing support. Even getting a knee brace for me when I started experiencing pain. When I was training, she admitted she thought I was nuts for doing the marathon. But after I completed it, she decided to take it up herself. She has since completed ten races (I've only completed the one marathon). We've talked about doing a marathon together for the last six years, but since I moved away, it was harder for us to make it a reality. Last Christmas, she gave me a great present, telling me she was going to come visit, and she signed up for the AT&T race so we could run together. AWESOME. So, I really want to have the chance to run and finish this race with my best friend. It would mean so much to me.
I also miss my Tough Cookie running buddies a lot. I want to run with them too. So I need this body to get better. FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad that it is looking like you'll be able to do the race. Listen to the docs & save all that "want to" for race day. I'll be cheering you on from here!!!
