Biography

Welcome to my Daisy Blog. I use this blog is to keep my family and friends updated on my current activities since I moved away from home in 2003.

I'm a Minnesota girl at heart, now living in Austin, Texas. I'm a marketing manager who has been able to travel with my job and meet amazing people around the world.

Every chance I get I try to discover something new. When I'm not traveling, I'm working on my house, sailing, dancing, participating in marathons, half marathons, or trying to do a triathlon, or just hanging out with friends and connecting with family.

The "Daisy" refers back to when I was a little girl and my Grandpa called me "Deanna Daisy". I was the only grandchild with a nickname, maybe because I was the first, but it always made me feel special.

The picture of me with the daisy is in a Calgary restaurant called the Saltlick. My friend took an impromptu picture next to it so I could send it to my family. I've since found out its an Andy Warhol print, and I have my own daisy print hanging in my house.

Interests

My interests are incredibly varied.  I really believe you should try everything at least once, and if its fun try it again (and maybe again if necessary).  

  • Sailing - Cruising or racing, either one.  Just get me on the boat. I've got my Bareboat Charter certificate, and if I had millions I would get a boat and travel the world.
  • Reading - I love reading anything from history, biographies, and even just a good action flick or romance here and there.  My favorite are books recommended by friends.  
  • Pictures/Scrapbooking/Etc - Pictures take me to happy places and remind me of happy memories.  I'm always taking pictures of everything and everyone and put them in photo albums to tell the story.  I guess that is one of the reasons I like this blog, its a mini album.
  • Travel - The more I travel, the more places I still want to go. There is so much out there to see, and I'm always amazed by what I find.
  • Scuba diving - Underwater is such a amazing world. Although I have a terrible time with sea-sickness, when I see the manta rays and other under sea life I'm memsmerized and just want to see more.
  • Music - Live music, my CD's/MP3's, singing (and I'm not a good singer), and dancing. I have music on almost every place I go.
  • Wine & Chocolate - I absolutely can save a beautiful glass of vino (red or white), and really good dark chocolate just makes me go ummmmmmm!
  • My Goddaughters - Ashley and Sarah are amazing girls, and I've been so blessed to be their godmother.  
  • My Family and friends - I'm still pretty sure I'm one of the luckiest kids in the world. I'm sure I've put my parents through a lot, but they have always been there for me. And no matter where I've been I've meet the most amazing people, and have made friendships that are incredibly special.

I think I could go on and on because there are so many things I enjoy.
